Mountain climbing in the Indian Himalayas requires a regulatory authorization from Govt. of India through Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF). Expeditions from overseas are also required to pay a peak royalty (amount depending on the peak height) and a liaison officer is assigned for each expedition.
