| Tour Summary |
The biking adventure starts on day two after our arrival and acclimatization in Leh, when we will explore this enchanting town on our bikes visiting the ancient buddhist monasteries and other local attractions.
On the following day we will take a returning trip to Khardung La (5600M) – the highest motorable pass in the world and proceed on our journey from Leh to Manali. We will be accompanied by a support vehicle carrying our luggage, safety equipment, support staff, camping gear etc. Each day we have chosen specific places for camping and the distances to be covered have been calculated as per the road conditions.
The trip will take us across some of the highest passes in the world like Tanglang La (17582ft.) Lachalung La (16616ft.) Baralacha (16000ft.) and Rohtang Pass (13050 ft.) During this 500Km journey we will also be make detours to visit and experience the ancient culture of nomads camping around Tsoker Lake. We will also spot a good deal of high altitude wildlife like Keyang (wild ass), Ibex, mountain hare etc.
The views during this whole tour are spectacular, especially from the high passes with mountain ranges sweeping near and far. Each day opens new vistas filled with sun-bathing walls multi-colored rock, snow capped peaks with clear blue sky backdrops set besides deep gorges, canyons and a barren desert landscape.
Finally, we leave behind the arid mountain ranges as we descend into the lush Himachal landscape on approaching Manali. This popular hill-station town is an ideal place to relax after about 10 days of high-altitude biking.
From Manali we will return to Delhi by car/coach with an overnight stay in Chandigarh and will also be visiting Agra to see the magnificient Taj Mahal before catching our return flight home from Delhi.
This tour can also be done in reverse from Delhi to Leh via Manali. |
