From Delhi we’ll fly north to the Ladakhi capital, Leh. The city lies on a plateau at 3500m above sea level, so the first two days will involve gentle sightseeing in and around Leh, which will allow you to acclimatize to the rarefied high-altitude air.

We’ll travel by jeep to the stunning beauty of Tsomoriri (‘Tso’ means Lake in Tibetan) on the border with Jammu & Kashmir state. A two-night stay gives the opportunity to explore the lake and its surroundings to the full: marvel at the spectacle of its shimmering blue waters against a vivid mountain backdrop, the scene constantly shifting with the changing light.

After a trip to the fascinating Tibetan monastery at Hemis, there is a further encounter with wild Ladakh as we descend into the Nubra valley. We’ll explore this beautiful place by bike, visiting picturesque villages surrounded by greenery, and remote monasteries – with an optional camel ride for a different perspective.

Thrill-seekers will appreciate the following day’s amazing bike ride from Khalsar across the world’s highest motor- able road – a truly unforgettable experience, followed by a fabulous, freewheeling descent all the way to Leh. A final adventure takes us to the headwaters of the majestic Indus River for some exciting whitewater rafting. The tour ends with an overnight stay in Delhi.
